WHAT IS TEXTILE WASTE? Textile waste, or post consumer textile material, consists of items that include family clothing, shoes, linens and related accessories.
WHAT ITEMS DOES COMMUNITY RECYCLING ACCEPT? Community Recycling accepts all used, clean family clothing, including shoes, and accessories. Additionally, Community Recycling accepts small soft and hard toys, and useable household items. We do not accept carpeting, furniture or appliances. Please make sure that these items are properly recycled or delivered to other organizations.
IS COMMUNITY RECYCLING A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION?Community Recycling is not a charitable organization. We do, however, maintain a number of relationships with non-profit organizations and implement our clothing collection programs as a fundraising vehicle.
CAN I GET A RECEIPT FOR DONATED CLOTHING AND OTHER RELATED MATERIALS?Yes, we can provide a receipt if you have made a donation into one of our non-profit partners' recycling bins. Simply call us at 1-800-336-0141 and leave your name, mailing address and the location where you made the donation and we will send you a receipt promptly.
WHERE DOES THE CLOTHING GO? Most of the material that we collect is brought to a central warehouse for processing. Thereafter, third party vendors purchase the material for a variety of uses, most of which is intended for re-use. Some clothing is remanufactured into commercial wiping cloth, carpet backing, insulation and fiber for new material.
